Indianpolis- It is a matter of pride for the Nepali Association of Indiana (NAI) to host and welcome participants to the eighth ANMA - NASeA Joint Convention at the Sheraton, Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis from August 31 to September 2, 2012.

ANMA-NASeA Joint Convention

It is a matter of pride for the Nepali Association of Indiana (NAI) to host and welcome participants to the eighth ANMA - NASeA Joint Convention at the Sheraton, Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis from August 31 to September 2, 2012. This also marks the start of the fourth decade of ANMA conventions, which commenced in 1982.

Convention Chair, Gopendra Bhattrai, President of NAI remarked that he was anticipating a grand convention marking the successful culmination of months of planning by him and his committees, from November 2011.  

The Convention is expected to welcome some 600 attendees from across the USA and Nepal including distinguished  guests such as the former Prime Minister of  Nepal – Madhav Kumar Nepal, Ambassador of  Nepal to the US – Shankar P. Sharma, UN Under Secretary-General Ambassador Gyan Chandra Acharya  as well as Nepali-Americans from many States and other dignitaries. Former PM Madhav Nepal is to participate at the Sunday welcoming ceremony and speak on the topic "What Nepal can expect from current generation of Nepali-Americans" as well as comment on NRN issues involving Nepal and the US. All the distinguished guests will also be addressing the plenary.

As always, the role and aspirations of Nepalis living outside Nepal, to help Nepal achieve rapid socio-economic transformation will be a focal point of many fora.

There will be a full slate of programs on Saturday such as a Walk and Run fitness exercise, Blood Donation Drive (with more than 50 donors signed up), the Nepal Blind Project (by Buna Dahal) and Nepal School Project to donate computers to Nepali schools (by Shiva Gautam), Women Forum, a youth talent show, an immigration forum, a NRN Forum and giving back to the mother land with projects like with the Nepal Wireless Project.

The Sunday program starts with discourse of Shree Haridas Swamiji followed by the convention inauguration. The afternoon will be devoted to the Nepal Forum, INLS Literary program, children's program, a Nepal Sambat presentation and a Dharma session. There will also be a discussion on a proposed federation of Nepali organization.

Concurrently with some of the programs above as well as before there will be a slate of competitive sports with teams from different localities. Some 200 sports players have already registered for these events. The roster so far includes seven Soccer teams, six volleyball teams, and participants in ping pong and other sports.

The evenings - Saturday and Sunday - will both feature entertainment concerts followed both days by DJ night with DJ Gorkhali.

As is the practice, the Saturday Night Concert will be performed by professional artistes and will involve a charge.  Famous Nepali artistes Prem Raja Mahat, Saroj Khanal, Nalina Chitrakar, Ashima Aryal and Gambu Sherpa, will present pop, modern folk songs and popular drama with lok dohori by Manju Pun Magar and Suman Budamagar.

Traditionally, the Sunday Night Concert will be gratis, assembled and presented by the combined talents of the ANMA and NASeA membership.

The Convention is thankful to sponsors and local business who helped defray our costs and are permitted to display and exhibit their products.

Current online registration exceeds 200 and onsite registration will open all day Saturday and Sunday. Walk-in registration beyond capacity cannot be assured, so register early.
