Kathmandu- In Nepal, like in many other countries, population censuses have been taken every ten years or so. Since the first population count of 1911, nine more censuses have been conducted so far. The earlier censuses of Nepal are considered less precise as compared to the modern ones. Four censuses taken before the 1952/54 census, for example, are considered “head counts” only. The 1952/54 census was taken in two parts of the country in two different years. Then a synchronized census was taken in 1961. After 1961, a census has been taken in every ten years. The last census in this series is the 2001 census.

America Matches Mail Participation Rate from 2000 Census
WASHINGTON—U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today congratulated the nation for its strong participation in the 2010 Census to date, as the Census Bureau released the latest mail participation data showing that 72 percent of U.S. households have mailed back their 2010 Census forms so far—the same rate the nation achieved at the end of the mail-back period during the 2000 Census.

Exclusive: न्यू योर्क- अमेरिकामा रहेका नेपाली समुदायको पहिचानकोलागी अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण रहेको अमेरिकि जनगणना २०१० को दिन अप्रिल १ नजिकिदै गर्दा न्यू योर्क शहरमा भने अहिलेसम्म १५ प्रतिशतभन्दा कम जनताले मात्र जनगणना फर्म भरेर फिर्ता पठाएको भन्ने न्यू योर्क शहर जनसंख्या बिभागको तथ्याङ्कले यसपाली पनि नेपालीहरुको जनगणना सोचेबमोजिम हुन नसक्ने संकेत देखिएकोछ।

New York- As the April 1 deadline for returning Census 2010 forms approaches, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) cited a compelling reason for undocumented immigrants to participate in the Census: the completed census form can be used to prove "physical presence" in the United States in the event that a legalization program is enacted by Congress in the future.
