संरासंको न्यू योर्कस्थित मुख्यालयको महासभा हल (जेनेरल एसेम्बली) मा आयोजित उक्त संस्थाको उद्घाटन समारोहमा उपस्थित विश्व भरका झन्डै एक हजार महिला प्रतिनिधीहरुले "One Women" (एक महिला) गीतमा झुमे र संरासं महासचिब बान कि-मुन, UN Women कि नब नियुक्त कार्यकारी निर्देशक तथा संरासं उपमहासचिब एबं चिले देशकि पूर्व राष्ट्रपति मिसेल बाचेलेट, हलिवुउड कि सुपर स्टार नायिका तथा संरासं र UN Women कि सद्भभावनादूत निकोल किड्म्यान, विश्व चर्चित गायिका साकिरा, स्पेन कि राजकुमारी क्रिस्टिना, विश्व प्रसिद्ध समाचार टेलिभिजन सिएनएन (CNN) का संस्थापक टेड टर्नरलगायतका महिलाको खातिर महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेलिरहेका अगुवाहरुका जोशिला भाषण सुने र दङ्ग परे। उक्त गीतको रचनाकार बेथ ब्लाट हुन् भने संगित ग्राहम लील र क्लेले श्रीजना गर्नुभएको हो।

उद्घाटन समारोहलाई माथि उल्लेखित ब्यक्तित्वहरुका अलावा संरासं महासभा अध्यक्ष जोसेफ देइस्, ओस्कार बिजेता नायिका गीना डेभिस, लाइबेरियामा महिला प्रहरीहरु मात्र सम्मिलित टोलीको नेत्रित्व गरेर संरासं शान्ती टोलीमा सहभागी भारतकि प्रहरी अधिक्रित राखी शाही र नाइजेरियाकि पूर्व परराश्ट्र मन्त्री तथा संरासंकालागि उक्त देशकि स्थाई प्रतिनिधी महामहिम राजदूत जोय ओगुले पनि सम्बोधन गर्नु भएको थियो।

UN Women संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघको गत बर्ष जुलाई २ मा बसेको महासभा बैठकद्वारा संरासं अन्तर्गतको ४ महिला ममिला हेर्ने संस्थाहरु बिलय गरी बनाइएको हो।

UN Women मा बिलय गरिएका संस्थाहरु United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) र Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI) हुन्।

वार्षिक बजेट ५ सय मिल्यन अमेरिकि डलर रहेको यो संस्थाले यस अघीका यि ४ वटा महिला मामिला हेर्ने संरासं संस्थाहरुको कामलाई प्रभाबकारीरुपमा सम्पन्न गर्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।

३२ बर्ष अघी अर्थात सन् १९७९ मा महिला बिरुद्धका सबै प्रकारका शोषण उन्मुलन महासन्धी Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) (Read) पारित भएपनि संरासंको एक तथ्यङ्कअनुसार विश्वभरका ७५९ मिलियन अशिक्षित जनतामध्ये दुई तिहाइ महिलाहरु पर्दछन् र महिलाउपर हुने हिंशाले अन्त्य हुने कुनै छाँट लिएको छैन।

अब हेर्नु छ, बिशेष गरी गरीब मुलुकका हर क्षेत्रमा पछौट्याइएका महिलाहरुले कति चाँडो उन्मुक्तीको श्वास फेर्न पाउने हुन्।
